Comprehending lots of money

I recently happened across an article describing obscene amounts of money. People seem to throw around the words 'million', 'billion', and even 'trillion' like they have no weight. The truth is that most people wouldn't be able to accurately tell me how much a trillion actually is. A trillion is a million million. Or a thousand billion. Its a number followed by twelve zeros. 

i.e 1,000,000,000,000. One trillion. 

In contrast here are the other numbers we are so familiar with:

1,000,000,000 - One billion

1,000,000 - One million

100,000 - One hundred thousand

I think you get the picture.

But most people don't know the difference. I must spread the knowledge!
